The Sydney African
Film Festival is a colourful and exciting event that celebrates African
cinema and culture organised by a group of volunteers and students seeking
to raise funds for Hands of Help - a grass roots charity that provides
opportunities for young volunteers and medical students to visit Africa
to improve the health and education of people living in poverty.
The film festival supports cultural diversity and promotes awareness of
African Culture and community involvement and interaction with Africa,
African's living in Australia and in addition to this, the festival supports
creative arts and filmmaking from the African region and provides the
community with access to view a variety of films that would otherwise
not be available.
In 2006, The
Sydney African Film Festival attracted over 1000 movie goers from all
over Sydney.
